Karen King is a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of executive management experience in the non-profit and public sector arenas. After receiving her degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work she began her career as a community and coalition organizer working with grassroots organizations throughout the US. Karen continues to support leadership development in both her professional practice and volunteer work. Her clinical expertise is in the field of child and family behavioral health and social services; Karen spent many years supervising professional staffs and developing programs and services in Massachusetts and Connecticut. As she was promoted into executive management positions Karen further developed her organizational and planning skills using the theory and methods of systems thinking. Today Karen consults with a variety of organizations; non-profit, proprietary and educational institutions throughout the northeast and New England. Her area of specialization is organizational development with an eye toward helping each organization identify their mission, develop their internal culture and initiate and sustain the accompanying systems and structures that will lead to individual and corporate success. Karen works with all staff levels from direct service through executive management and with Boards of Directors and feels that the best results come through interdisciplinary and interdepartmental initiatives. She has facilitated over 12 strategic planning projects and provides consultation in the areas of team building and coalition initiatives, policy and procedure development, change process, conflict resolution, diversity in the workplace and other internal system needs of companies. In addition to her project facilitation and consultation, Karen is an accomplished trainer and presenter. She often prepares specific workshops for individual clients in order to best meet the needs of their workplace or organization. Karen has presented to all age groups in educational institutions from elementary school through post-graduate studies.
