Gender Identity & Expression in the Workplace Presented by Al Toney and Chris Miller ~ Expand your knowledge and understand your legal obligations for your Transgender employees, clients and/or students to create more inclusive working and learning environments. ~ MetroWest Learning & Conference Center at Becker College 337 Turnpike Road, Route 9 West ~ Southborough, MA 01772 2012 General Admission Seminar Dates Coming Soon ~ Contact Us to Schedule Your Own Company Seminar! ~ Gender, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, Biological Sex and Sexual Orientation are all separate, yet related, aspects of everyone's identity including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. This workshop explores the inter-relatedness and separateness of these identity components. Tools for talking about gender identity/expression and sexual orientation with clients, colleagues and friends will be provided. Participants will be invited to consider how privilege and oppression contribute to silence on this topic. You and your company, organization or learning institution may be prepared and knowledgeable about working and supporting Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual employees and clients, but few are prepared for the Transgender employee, client or student. ~ On November 16, 2011, the Massachusetts Senate pass the Transgender Rights Bill, which stems from Gov. Deval Patrick's historic Executive Order prohibiting discrimination based on gender identity and expression in state employment, which Governor Patrick issued in March 2011. It applies to all state agencies in the Executive Branch, as well as businesses and organizations that contract with the Executive Branch. This order is an excellent first step towards creating a Commonwealth where all hardworking people, including transgender people, have the opportunity to make a living and provide for themselves and their families. AK Consulting Services, Inc extends our thanks to Governor Patrick and the Massachusetts Legislature for their continued support for the LGBT community, and for promoting fairness, equality and safety for all citizens of the Commonwealth. ~ How does this, or similar, legislation impact your company or agency?
